Step Two. My First in Person Appointment.

First. Sorry I’m way late idk I’ve just been energy depleted lately 😩 I had my first appointment yesterday 6/29 and everything was kinda..weird

Thanks to COVID, everything operated oddly. My husband wasn’t allowed to come with me! 😩😭😭. First I had to check in from my car and wait for a rep from the office to call and let me know that it was safe for me to come in. Upon arrival I was asked the same questions that were asked to me over the phone concerning COVID symptoms. Then I was temp checked, and given a sticker to put on my shirt. Then I get to the RAD’s office and have to ring a doorbell to enter. Upon arrival I was asked YET AGAIN. The same questions I was asked on the phone and in the lobby. I was then temp checked AGAIN. (Mind you this was literally a minute in between but hey I get it safety first)

I get walked straight back into a room and get my blood pressure and heart rate taken. Then I get weighed! I was so excited to see the number on the scale prove that my diet is working. Before my diet had begun I was 212 lbs. As of right now I’m 194!! That’s 18 lbs. In a month!!! πŸ’πŸΏ

Next up I met my ultrasound tech. She was super nice and made me feel less anxious about the whole ordeal. She gave me my ultrasound and got pictures of my ovaries and uterus. She said everything looked fine so far.

Before the ultrasound she did a breast exam which I was super grateful for because I had previously found a lump I was trying to go to a dr for months prior and no one was open due to Covid. She found the lump and expedited  what I needed to be done for imaging. Ashley is truly a God’s send πŸ˜πŸ’•πŸ˜ I got the order for the imaging so I can finally get this checked out and bypass my primary care Drs. who, would’ve just taken forever to give me my results.

Next I was sent to the lab for prenatal blood work they took 6 vials of blood. I was so dizzy when I stood up.😩😭 Most likely because I didn’t eat before I went (probably should have smh). All in all the appointment went well. We’re still in the beginning stages of diagnosing my infertility issues..it’s a long, but needed process.

I was told that lump I found in my breast is what’s priority right now as far as treatment and I couldn’t agree more it’s been painful and making me so worried! I’ll hopefully be getting the imaging done today (7/1) if I can find a walk-in imaging place still taking walk-ins. Up next is a sonogram and most likely more blood work.

That’s all for now loves. I’ll keep you updated on what’s going on.

Mini Update

Radfertility is finally open!!! I made my first appointment with them and it’s on the 29th of June at 2 p.m! It’s just going to be the initial exam and ultrasound. We’re essentially doing all of this to begin the diagnosis process. I’m nervous I just hope nothing is majorly wrong to the point where we can’t conceive ya know? I just feel like it’s been one let down after another everytime I take a pregnancy test.. it comes out negative.. I check again.. negative..leave it for 5 mins check again and on and on…Sorry lol that turned into a mini rant there. Anyway. I’ll be sure to keep you all posted on what’s going on and what the dr says and all that Jazz. Oh by the way today marks exactly 1 month clean!!!

  • No weed
  • No cigs
  • No alcohol

An entire month! I’m so proud😩😭 I also have still been dieting (of course I have my cheat days but) drumroll I’m down a pants size!!! πŸ”₯πŸ‘πŸ’πŸΏ well..that’s all for now my loves I’ll update you again in 8 days. πŸ˜›

Rant.

I’m tired.

I’m tired of other people questioning my fertility …questions and statements such as..

  • Are you pregnant yet?
  • Don’t wait til it’s too late
  • “*insert family member’s names* Are building a team you better hop on it and get started”
  • Don’t you want children? You’d be such a great mother”
  • You’re lucky you don’t have kids you can just get up and go
  • Give your husband a baby before he starts to wander
  • Where are my grandkids?
  • Give your mother grandchildren
  • Your bonus daughter wants a sibling why would you deny her that?
  • Don’t keep us waiting too soon.
  • You’ve gained weight..you must be pregnant!

Honestly, I’m so over it and no woman should be asked or told this! Their body their choice. Choose your words wisely they hurt.

Step One. The Phone Appointment.

Let me just introduce myself and give you a little insight of what’s going on. Hi ,I’m Shanelle! I’m from Delaware. I’m 27 and I’ve been married to the LOML since 1.20.2020 πŸ‘°πŸΏπŸ€΅πŸΏ (newlyweds!!!πŸ’ž). We’ve been trying to conceive for what seems like forever! (A Year) . I felt as though something wasn’t right (I mean c’mon we’ve been going at it like rabbits πŸ‡ πŸ‡πŸ€ΈπŸΎβ€β™€οΈπŸ˜‚) so I made an appointment with my OB/GYN to see if he could tell me what’s up. Just for a little back story I’ve previously went to an OB/GYN and she just wrote me of as having PCOS without having tests done to confirm or deny her suspicions so I moved to Dr. Picazo. I had my 1st consultation with him told him what was going on and he had given me my blood tests the same day!! I can’t tell you how happy that made me! (I’m a sucker for immediate action.) Fast forward to about 2 weeks later I get a call from Dr. Picazo and he tells me that my blood work results are back and that it seems as though I’m not ovulating regularly, other than that the rest of my results look fine. He suggested that I go to a fertility specialist in order to further my pregnancy journey. I decided to go with RADfertility (Reproductive Associates of Delaware). I had my first “appointment” with RAD on May 13th over the phone due to Covid-19 closures. I spoke with Dr. McGuirk. She asked me the normal questions a Dr. would ask new patients. After all was said and done I was told to quit smoking cigarettes (shocker), weed, and to not drink alcohol. Yup all my fun gone but it’s for a great cause and a healthier life! Dr. McGuirk also put me on a strict diet.

  • No Gluten
  • No Dairy (OMG NO CHEESE?!) πŸ§€πŸ˜
  • No fruit (due to high sugar content)
  • I also have to intermittent fast (no food from 7pm-11 am)
  • Anything that tastes good is gone.

So now I’m on a diet and patiently waiting for RAD to open back up so my first in person appointment can be made. I’m not gonna lie I’m stressed, so is my husband but.. we’re making it work. (he’s not dieting but he did quit smoking ❀)
